Score: 8.5/10
Now lets get down to it.
The Plot: 7/10. I thought it was quite good, but nothing spectacular. Everything made sense and was believable, but the concept didn't blow me away. Also, I found it kind of nullified almost all of the previous X-Men movies, which bummed me out, because I LOVED them, but now its like, oh but 90% of that hasn't happened now…
The Cast: 10/10. This cast is phenomenal, the original X-Men certainly were, and I have to give the new kids kudos, especially James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence. Both gave spectacular performances, and I particularly enjoyed seeing young Professor X as a junkie.
The Animation: 9/10. SO good, it actually looked real. Not too much to say on this aspect, except WOW, amazing work.
Funniest Scene: Beast and Wolverine having a little argument, "Hank get off the chandelier!"
Creepiest Scene: Wolverine getting pin cushioned by Magneto, so gross.
Best Performance: Everyone would say Hugh Jackman, and while he was incredible, he was also the main character and had the most screen time, plus he's been doing Wolverine FOREVER, so he actually should be amazing. Instead I'm going to say it's a tie between Patrick Stewart and Ellen Page. I say Patrick Stewart because he has an uncanny knack for coming across as the wisest person on the planet, he could make anyone trust and follow him, and was wonderful in anything and everything he's done so far. I say Ellen Page because she surprised me, I've always seen her as a talented comedic actress, but I never imagined her in an action movie, and I think she played the role brilliantly.
Biggest Scene Stealer: Evan Peters as Quicksilver, every scene that he was in was hilarious, especially the kitchen scene. This character brought a lot of comedy to a movie that was otherwise just about the action.
Most Annoying Moment: At the end of most Marvel movies there's a sneak peek of what's coming in the next movie, so I always wait for it. The one at the end of the Avengers was worth it, the one at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier was worth it, though it almost gave me a heart attack, but the one at the end of X-Men: DOFP… definitely not worth sticking around for.
Lesson Learned: Revenge will get you nowhere, and you can never truly know what the consequences of your actions will be. You'll never know what chains of events you've set off, or what the future will be, so do your best in life and hope everything works out, and you don't accidentally doom your own species.
While its marketed as a family film, I think the amount of violence may warrant an M15 rating. But then again, I tend to get very stressed out in action-packed and/or suspenseful movies, so that might just be me.
Overall, it is a fantastic movie, and I highly recommend that you see it, but not on a day where your tired, this movie demands your full attention and focus, otherwise you will get lost somewhere in the time shifts.
