This week a very interesting rumour has had the interwebz running wild. Will the third Avengers movie be split into two parts, potentially called Avengers 3.1 and Avengers 3.2? As with any rumour, the internet took it and ran away with it, but is there any truth to the rumour?
Doubtful.
There has been talk of the plot line being so 'universe-spanning and epic' that it simply won't fit into one movie. I think this is absolute bullshit, while the plot line will no doubt be epic and amazing, Marvel has the creative hutzpah to pull it off in one movie. Plus, the franchise is already being dragged out and is proving to be a very costly one for Disney. Splitting the third Avengers film into two would increase these costs exponentially, as contracts for Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr expire after the third film, and actors have to be paid per film they appear in, even if its shot as one big ass project. And while RDJ's return to the Iron Man role is flying around the rumour mill, if it were to happen, it will cost Disney hundreds of millions of dollars... which they do have, to be fair.
All in all, my money's on one fan-fucking-tastic Avengers 3.
